Al Nayzak Ambassadors Hosted by PLO Delegation in Washington D.C.

 

Washington – Ramallah: Al Nayzak ambassadors in Science and Technology to the United States visited the Palestinian Liberation Organization delegation in Washington D.C. During their visit, the students met withHis Excellency Mr. HakamTakash, First Secretary/Consular Affairs, Ms. Nadia Ghanam, Director of Community Relations and Outreach, Mr. Jared Markland, Congressional Affairs Officer, and Ms. Caroline Katba, Media Affairs Coordinator. The delegation staff explained the various services and support that the delegation offers to the Palestinian community and the Palestinian cause in the United States of America, while the studentsintroduced their scientific and technological projects.

This visit comes as a part of the students’ program in Washington D.C. to participate in a specializedtraining at the National Air and Space Museumand National Aeronautics and Space Administration- NASA, in addition to visiting several landmarks and academic centers in the U.S. capital. The PLO delegation attended the students’ presentations of their scientific projects at the National Air and Space Museum, which was held in the Space Race Exhibition at the museum, so as to know more about the students, their innovations, and the Science and Technology Entrepreneurship Program-S.T.E.P.

The Science and Technology Entrepreneurship Program (S.T.E.P) supports Palestinian students who have innovative project and research ideas in different fields of applied science, engineering, and technology. The program, which targets students in ninth to eleventh grades, creates a culture of scientific and technological learning, and research and innovation by developing the capacities and capabilities of students. The students then become able to execute unique and original projects in order to keep up with international advancements in science and technology. Al Nayzak’s scientific team trains the participating students to engage in a national competition and exhibition. The winners of this national competition travel as a delegation to the United States and other countries, where they attend trainings in space science and engineering with specialized scientific organizations, and exchange ideas with their international peers. This program is funded by the American Consulate General in Jerusalem, and is conducted in partnership with the Higher Council for Innovation and Excellence and the Smithsonian’s National Air and Space Museum.
